Petroleum workers' conference
Oil and gas workers of our country held a Conference of their organisation in Mumbai on December 11-12, 2009.
The thematic slogans of the conference were: “Protect oil PSUs to Energise Self-reliant National Economy” and “UNIFY Struggles of Regular and Contract Workers to FORTIFY Right to Trade Union and Right to Collective Bargaining”.
Delegates from 48 unions affiliated with the Federation attended the conference. Workers of upstream and down stream oil PSUs including ONGC, OIL, GAIL, IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, CPCL, KRL, NRL were represented in the conference.
The Conference denounced the policy of privatization. It deliberated on the current round of wage negotiations. The urgency of integrating the struggles of the regular and contract workers was stressed upon by the particpants.
