Communists must unite to lead the struggle against the bourgeois offensive

The Editor,

I am writing to express my sincere appreciation of the views expressed by our leader Com. Lal Singh, on the necessity for unity in the Communist movement as the essential step in solving the burning problems of the country.

This speech comes at a time of profound peril for the working masses of the country as the new UPA Government is tightening its stranglehold on them, in order to serve the capitalist class to which it is subservient.  While there is clarity in the minds of the bourgeoisie as to what is to be done to advance its aims, the working class remains divided and disoriented. Part of the reason for this is the problems within the Communist movement.

In a clear and sharply articulated manner Com. Lal Singh has pointed out that the main struggle now is the one between those who through their actions strengthen the existing bourgeoise rule, or those who seek to overthrow it.

Com. Lal Singh's speech also suggests that in the eyes of the broad masses, communism continues to be the harbinger of hope for their liberation.  Given this scenario, the responsibility of those in the movement becomes even greater. In this context, comrade Lal Singh has emphasized the resolution of differences within the communist movement so that communists can unitedly lead the working masses against the bourgeois offensive.

I wholeheartedly support Com. Lal Singh's demand that the path of violence and settling scores be rejected immediately, and agree with the assessment that those who continue doing such things are knowingly or unknowingly helping to prolong the existing system.

I look forward to more elaboration on the line at this time that will strengthen the movement and take it forward.

Sincerely, Narayan
Bangalore
