There was a fire in the Lakhani Vardan Shoe company located in Faridabad, Haryana on the 1st of May in which several workers lost their lives. Many others were injured and are fighting for their lives.

According to the initial information, it appears that the cause of the fire and resulting death of workers was due to inadequate security system and lack of fire exits. What this incident and most such accidents prove is that while the factory owners want to extract most from the labour of the workers, they do not wish to spend even a pie on measures to provide safety to the workers, And such a state of affairs exists with the connivance of the state government and its Department of Labour.
