CGPI Manifesto - a revolutionary call

The Editor,

PV.

Sir,

I thank you for carrying the manifesto of the CGPI in the April 1-15, 2009 issue of PV on the 15th Lok Sabha elections. I commend the party on the work that has been carrying out towards the liberation of the people of India.

The manifesto starts out by pointing out that the there is a vast recognition, across the length and breadth of the country, of the bankruptcy of the system based on multi-party democracy of the bourgeoisie. In the post colonial era, various parties have proven to be champions of this or that section of the bourgeoisie, who merely seek, in the final analysis, to strengthen the existing economic and political system to ensure the further plunder of the country. They have perfected the running of electoral machines and stop at nothing to perpetuate their system.

Less obvious is the actual method adopted by the bourgeoisie which is that of ruling through terror.  At one time the spectre of the country falling apart is raised, at another a section of the population is blamed for this or that problem, and at yet another time, a foreign power is blamed. The bourgeoisie itself funds and organizes pogroms and blood-curdling atrocities when faced by crisis of credibility and carries out elections against such a backdrop.  The proof that it is the bourgeoisie that is behind this is the fact that no one is ever brought to justice for crimes against the people of India.

The CGPI points out that there cannot be a system that can at once harmonize the need of providing for one and all, with that of enriching the capitalist.  It is the uncompromising nature of this position that needs to be worked out thoroughly. Sooner or later the working people of India will have to take stock of this recognition and it is only they who can take Indian society forward. They must deliberate on all questions of the polity and learn from the mistakes of the vacillating political forces that have for one reason or another compromised with the bourgeoisie and supported the lines such as `socialistic pattern of society', or `reforms with a human face'.

In the manifesto, the CGPI has provided a framework for the discussion of how the state that the working class would establish would go about the matters of polity.  This could indeed be the beginning of a new phase of life in the Indian polity. The working people must seize the opportunity and work out its line in the days and years to come. Communists must be at the forefront of the discussion.

Sincerely,
A. Narayan
