The twenty-eighth anniversary of the founding of our party was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the members and well wishers of the Party in different regions. On this important occasion, Party comrades everywhere renewed their conviction in the glorious mission of the working class, of overthrowing the man eating capitalist imperialist system and building the new socialist society, free from all forms of exploitation of persons by persons, on the soil of our beloved country. Through speeches and discussion, as well as revolutionary songs, the comrades of the Party expressed their determination to follow the road charted by the party and to mobilise the working class and all the toiling and oppressed on this road.

In the celebrations to mark the event in the capital on 25 December, the General Secretary of our Party, Comrade Lal Singh, delivered an important speech to mark the occasion. Comrade Lal Singh summed up the advances made by the Party in the past year as well as the challenges ahead. He dwelt on the dangerous developments internationally and in the region, including the whipping up of war hysteria, the growing US imperialist intervention in the region. He called upon the Party to redouble its efforts to forge the unity of communists, all anti imperialist forces, and of the working class and people against fascism, imperialism and reactionary war.  Comrade Lal Singh dwelt on the importance of strengthening the Party as the vanguard of the class.

A militant and enthusiastic spirit marked the function organised by the Maharashtra Regional Committee. As in other regions, it was characterised by the youthful character and composition of the participants. As the Secretary of the region pointed out, “The Party gets older by one year, yet its cadre keeps getting younger by the year”. This was a reflection of the younger people taking up communism as their life mission and joining the Party. The meeting discussed the challenges that the party and the working class and people face in the current scenario when the Indian ruling class is shifting the burden of the crisis on to the backs of the working people, strengthening fascist laws, as well as building a close strategic relationship with the US, threatening peace and security in the South Asian region.

We have received reports of enthusiastic celebrations from several other regional committees of our party.

In these meetings, the comrades expressed their feelings about the life and work of the Party. They spoke about the achievements of the party and also how their lives acquired a new meaning and purpose after they joined the Party. Comrades vowed to make the party even stronger and step up the work to bring the day closer when the working people will overthrow the man-eating capitalist system and transform themselves into the ruling class.
