Youth programme on the theme "Freedom from Terrorism"
On the first weekend of the new year Hindi Naujawan Ekta Sahba organized competitions for youth and children in Sanjay Colony in South Delhi on the burning issue of terrorism under the theme "Nutan Varsha mein Aatankvaad se Mukti" (Freedom from Terrorism in the New Year). This was followed by a public meeting on the same theme.
Despite bitter cold the activists of HNES with great enthusiasm fanned out in the entire locality to mobilize the youth and children to participate in the essay, drawing, dance and singing competition. The youth and children participated in the competition large numbers attracting enthusiastic response from the residents, who gathered in large numbers to see their children participate in the competitions, cheering them during the performance. The programme which began at 11 O' clock in the morning continued till 3 in the afternoon.
A public meeting was organized to distribute prizes to the winning participants. On this occasion representative of Lok Raj Sangathan and Delhi Leather Kaarigar Sangathan were present and members of Sanjay Colony Lok Raj Samiti actively participated in the public meeting. Apart from hundreds of residents from Sanjay Colony, independent candidate for recently held Assembly elections Mr. Naresh Jain also participated in the public meeting.
The public meeting was inaugurated with a progressive song "dekho rang badal raha hai asmaan ka", rendered by two young girls from Sanjay Colony.
Founding member of HNES Santosh Kumar said that the youth have an important force in the transformation of the society and they must play their role. They must fight for a society where rights of all are guaranteed and a society of free from exploitation can be established.
Birju Nayak who had contested from the Tughlakabad Assembly Constituency addressed the gathering. Greeting all workers and toiling people of the constituency on New Year, he declared that the political power and right to take decision must be in the hands of the people. To achieve this objective we must establish and work to strengthen lok raj samitis in every locality and at workplaces. Speaking on the theme of the public meeting he posed a question: "The state that can let us die of hunger, that can deprive us of water, that can shoot at innocent people agitating for their rights, is such a state beyond organising terrorist attacks for its own benefit?"
Atik from Delhi Leather Kaarigar Sangathan congratulated the HNES for organizing such an programme in a working class colony. He said that the state of big capitalists is at the root of terrorism. He called upon workers to overthrow this system.
Speaking on behalf of Delhi Committee of Communist Ghadar Party of India, Sucharita said that children of workers and toilers must make best use of such opportunities for demonstrating their hidden talents. The workers and peasants are being crushed under the exploitation by our rulers. This can only be changed by replacing the present system by rule of workers and peasants. As long as the reigns of power are in the hands of the big capitalists, poverty, hunger, terrorism etc can never be eliminated.
Independent candidate and another resident of Sanjay Colony, Naresh Jain appreciated the programme and congratulated the organizers. Representatives of the invited organizations applauded the participants and handed over the prizes to the winners of the various competitions. As the programme concluded in the late evening the entire locality reverberated with "Inquilaab Zindabad!".
