The truth about democracy!
Sir,
The founders of present system of democracy established their system, so that the people living on the margin of the society are also able to participate in the political process. They declared it as democracy of the people, by the people and for the people.
However even after 60 years of independence the conditions of the people has not improved and the dreams remain unfulfilled. All the arms of this democracy – legislature, judiciary and the executive appear in their anti-people role.
So far fourteen general election have been held since independence and not one was free or fair. The political parties could not rise above the considerations of crime, caste, regionalism, and religion. Criminal elements get elected to various assemblies and the parliament. Corruption, fraud, and scams are rampant.
Judiciary that was once considered above all this is also changing its colours and becoming like other institutions. The judges do not hesitate to demand bribe for administration of justice. It is becoming increasingly difficult for common people to ensure their basic rights. Communal issues are raised time and again to come to power. These elements should be declared as anti-nationals and rendered unfit to become people representatives.
Press and media had played an important role in the freedom struggle. Small newspapers and leaflets brought out by revolutionaries ignited people imagination and people used to treasure them. Today People’s Voice is playing that role of keeping the flame of revolution burning in the hearts and minds of the people.
Sincerely,
Bharat Prasad Atal, Social Activist
