Checkmate the aims of the imperialist bourgeoisie!
The Editor,
Sir,
I am writing to congratulate the Central Committee of the Communist Ghadar Party of India for its timely, analytical and principled statement entitled "Fight for Peace in South Asia! Expel US imperialism from this region!". I am also pleased to read the report on the major rally that the party comrades participated in on January 12, 2009 in Delhi, in which large numbers of workers, intellectuals, activitists marched together. I commend all those who participated in this important event.
An alarming situation is prevailing in the country as the bourgeoisie is now hell-bent on collaborating with the US in bringing war to the door-step of India by upping the ante against Pakistan. All kinds of activities are being sponsored on a daily basis by US imperialism to isolate Pakistan to prepare for an eventual war. While the domestic situation in the US is grim on the economic front, and the international situation is one in which there is an impasse in Afghanistan, a war in the region may be one way in which the US could extricate itself out of the situation, and eventually maneouvre an advantageous position for itself. It wishes to have a long term strategic goal of dominating the region. The Indian bourgeosie on the other hand is keen on having its own sphere of influence and is fishing in these troubled waters to settle old scores with Pakistan and to bargain for a winning hand elsewhere.
An important point in the statement that is worth underscoring is that all the imperialist countries employ tactics to meet their strategic aims, viz., the behaviour of US imperialism is not exceptional. It is therefore important to not simply isolate US imperialism, but the
aims and machinations of all the imperialist bourgeoisie in the region, not the least of which is the Indian bourgeoisie. In light of this, the conclusion to be drawn is that it is only the Indian working class in alliance with the working class in all countries that can checkmate the intentions and aims of the bourgeoisie. By realizing that war is something that serves only the bourgeoisie, and orienting its strategy around this recognition, the working class can lead the Indian masses away from the perilous path that is being charted by the bourgeoisie. The working class led by communists must seize this initiative at this moment.
Sincerely,
A. Narayan
