On 14th July, 2009, the Roadways Workers took their demands all over the state and organized a one day strike throughout Uttar Pradesh.

The workers of the State Transport Corporation demanded that they should be able to enjoy the benefits of the 6th Pay Commission; that the retirement age be increased from 58 to 60; they should get a 50% increase in their pay considering the rise in prices; the corporations where the 5th Pay Commission has not been enforced should enjoy benefits of the 5th Pay Commission as well as the benefits of the 6th Pay Commission.
