Martyrs’ Day observed by Mico Bosch Workers Union in Jaipur
The Workers Union of Mico Bosch organised a cultural program on 22nd March 2009 to mark the occasion of martyrs’ day, at the Dusshera Maidan, Pratap Nagar. Hundreds of young workers participated in t he program.
The Communist Ghadar Party of India (CGPI), All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), Arthik Samantha Manch, Akhil Rajasthan Rajya Karamchari Samyutkt Mahasangh and other organisations had been specially invited to the program.
Pradip Kumar, a young leader of the union, commenced the program with the famous slogan 'Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamare dil me hai...!' and went on to compere it. All the leaders of the organisations present at the program saluted the pictures of the great martyr Bhagat Singh and laid bouquets.
Several plays based on the life and revolutionary work of Bhagat Singh and his comrades were presented on the occasion. A play on the martyr Sagar Mal was also performed. Many revolutionary songs “meri maut par na roy – meri soch noo bachao” (don’t cry upon my death – let my thoughts live on!) “Faansi ka fanda choom kar marna sikha diya, jeena sikha diya” (he kissed the gallows and taught us to die; he taught us how to live as well!) and several others were sung. A poem “Kaisa ho Bharat” (What must our India be like) was also recited. Many youth thus participated in the cultural program, which inspired all those present.

The speaker of the Communist Ghadar Party of India said that the martyrdom of Bhagat Singh continues to inspire all of us even today. The 23rd of March is a day which is observed in all corners of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Bhagat Singh had declared – “as long as a handful of exploiters rule, exploitation cannot be ended!” Not only the British colonialists, but the Congress Party too was scared of his thoughts. Bhagat Singh had said that we just get independence (from foreign rule) and the rule passes on to the hands of a handful, then ‘brown Englishmen’ would take the place of the white Englishmen as rulers of our country. We can see the truth of his declaration today, from the manner in which the big capitalist houses like Tata, Birla, Ambani and others lord it over this land.
The speaker of the Communist Ghadar Party of India said that the Indian state uses several means to divide the people; peasants and workers are being severely exploited. National aspirations of the people of Kashmir and the North East are being suppressed on the pretext of curbing terrorism. He also explained the present economic crisis, and showed how it is the result of the capitalist system and the capitalists. They try to squeeze maximum profit and push the burden of the crisis on the working people, pushing several hundreds of thousands into joblessness. Science tells us that economic crises are a fellow traveller of capitalism. He said that Bhagat Singh wished to build a society where one human being could not exploit another. If we wish to build a society without exploitation, if we wish that the working people are prosperous, then we have to fight for revolution. We shall have to march ahead on the path shown by Bhagat Singh. This would be the truest tribute we can pay to Bhagat Singh, he declared.
The representative of the AIBEA spoke inspiringly about the revolutionary aspects of the life of Bhagat Singh. Elucidating the views of Bhagat Singh, the Rajasthan State General Secretary of AITUC condemned the falsehoods spread by the British colonialists and the capitalists, who said that Bhagat Singh was a ‘terrorist’. The Rajasthan State President of AITUC urged the youth to keep the flame of Bhagat Singh burning in their hearts. Many others addressed the gathering.
