Lamentations of Trade Union leaders

Sir

I work in Okhla Phase I, an industrial area of Delhi. I want my views to reach the trade union leader through you medium.

I had an opportunity to participate in the May Day rally. The rally started from the Ram Lila ground and went upto the Town Hall. There, it was transformed into a public meeting. I was amazed by the views put forward by the leaders of CPI and CPI(M) who addressed the meeting.

They were lamenting the fact that this system was not able to implement even the meager rights won by the working class that workers are not even getting the minimum wages that workers are only asking for a few rights, etc.

Can the working class be liberated by such lamentation by these leaders?

I do not think so! I believe that it is essential to arm the workers with the politics of the working class. The aim of the working class is to transform itself into the ruling class. Demands are only a means to go towards this aim. However, the leaders who are advocating reforms of this system are only wanting to transform the working class into being the tail of the capitalist class. I want to thank Comrade Prakash Rao of the Communist Ghadar Party of India for raising the issue of the rule of workers and peasants.

Mansoor Ahmed,
New Delhi
