Government has failed in its duty
Sir,
I am writing in response to the article entitled "Government fails to control galloping prices'' published in the April 16-30 issue of Peopal's Voice. The article points out that the government is squarely responsible for the intolerable price rise of basic commodities including foodgrains.
The article points out that the Government has taken no steps to contain the hardship that people of the country are having to bear. Its primary commitment remains that of safeguarding the interests of the bourgeoisie which wishes to have high growth and high rate of return on its investments.
I ask, why any one should tolerate a Government like this. The duty of the government is to guarantee human existence for all. Is not the right to food an inalienable right. of all human beings?
Kautilya and Bheeshma pointed out that the duty of the Raja is to take care of the basic needs of the Praja. In the 21st century, what we find instead is a state whose supreme interest is that of protecting the interests of private property, no matter what the consequences are to the population of the land. The people of India must repudiate the foundations of this anti people state.
The work of the CGPI has been of the highest calibre. Communists are indeed those who are capable of taking on the role of leadership. Only that leadership which is resolute and uncompromising towards the bourgeoisie will be at the forefront of the struggle for liberation.
Sincerely,
G. Rajan,
Chennai
