As we go to the press, news reports are coming in of a series of bomb blasts in Jaipur. At least 7 separate explosions were set off, in a 20 minute period, just after sun down on May 13, 2008, when masses of people were thronging to shops, eating places, as well as temples. Over 80 people have been killed and over a hundred injured, many grievously, in these blasts. Mazdoor Ekta Lehar/Peoples Voice extends our deep and sincere condolences to the families of the victims.

With great anger, Mazdoor Ekta Lehar/ Peoples Voice condemns the perpetrators of this bestial massacre of innocent people. No amount of crocodile tears shed by the Congress government at the center, or by the BJP which aspires to replace Congress at the center, can hide the reality that people of India continue to be slaughtered in terrorist strikes at will, and the Indian state is unwilling and incapable of providing protection to the people.

These terrorist strikes come in the background of deepening anger amongst the masses at the anti people policies of the governments at the center and in the states. They come in the background of deepening economic crisis, skyrocketing prices, increasing resort to state terrorism to crush the voice of the oppressed. The aim seems to be to divide the people, dissipate and divert their anger, and enable the ruling class to sort out its internal crisis while people are sidelined. People must remain vigilant of the plans of the ruling class.
