In defence of human rights
The Editor,
Sir,
I am writing to thank the CC of the CGPI for its highly principled and ideologically sound statement entitled, "No justification for the violation of human rights!" published on the party web-site. At a time when the bourgeoisie is screaming itself hoarse that only those with capital are worthy of rights, a statement of this kind is an important milestone in the struggle for rights. It firmly places in context the present state of human rights and its violation at the hands of the bourgeoisie. In this regard, the clarity with which the issues are brought out is a hallmark of the ideological struggle waged by the party against the bourgeois pressure for conciliation.
I also thank the party for publishing alongside the informative and important report "Hundreds march to parliament on December 10: Let us build a new India to guarantee human rights for all!''. The matter presented here is a reflection of the work that the party is carrying out in the sphere of human rights. It has worked hard to bring together disparate forces fighting for human rights in a variety of settings and contexts, each as valid as the other. For instance, the violation of the rights of religious minorities at the hands of the Indian state is a violation of rights of all. The violation of the rights of national minorities is a violation of the rights of all. Those that are fighting against such violations are all part and parcel of the movement towards the realization of human rights in India. Let the movement strengthen and move towards the realization of this goal. I hail the work of the CGPI in this regard.
Sincerely,
S. Nair, Kochi
