Celebrations of 27th Anniversary
Sir,
Although I was unable to join the feisty celebrations marking the 27th Anniversary of the founding of our party, I was delighted to read the report carried in People's Voice on the event. It is worth keeping in mind that our party was born in the height of the cold war contradictions between the imperialist and social-imperialist blocs. By 1989 the Berlin wall had come down and the by 1991 the USSR had ceased to exist. The imperialist camp had announced that the socialism was dead, and that free markets and liberal democracy were the only viable systems. Communist parties across the world adapted themselves to this changing environment and dissolved themselves, or renamed themselves to curry favour with the bourgeoisie and took to the path of becoming bench warmers in parliamentary talk shops.
Our party has been uncompromising in this period. It has only become stronger and shown that there can be no conciliation to the bourgeoisie's pressure and has remained steadfast to its goal of being the vanguard of the working class. It has deliberated on all the ideological and practical questions of the age, and has based itself on Marxism-Leninism and is working towards a theory of liberation of the Indian masses. By rooting itself solidly on the ground realities of the Indian situation it has won prestige and praise across a broad spectrum of the working peoples.
It has taken initiatives on an unprecedented scale and has participated in every possible struggle within its constraints. Our party never loses sight of the goal of the liberation of the Indian masses, and has persistently pointed out that any conciliation with the bourgeoisie is the path of disaster. It has exposed the Indian state as being one of the most vile colonial states, the Indian bourgeoisie as a rapacious and arch reactionary class, exposed the use of broad violence and terror as methods of rule to disorient and divert the masses from their historical destiny. It has welcomed all those that are interested in the goal of liberation. I have no doubt that the work of the party will gain momentum in the years to come and hail the cadres and leadership of the party for their inspiring work. I look forward to participating in such celebrations in the future, failing which I look forward to reading about these.
Sincerely,
A. Narayan
