Militant demonstration in Mumbai on Human Rights Day

On Human Rights Day, December 10, 2007, Lok Raj Sangathan organized a militant demonstration from 6 pm to 7.30 pm., in front of Churchgate Railway Station in Mumbai. Activists of Lok Raj Sanghathan distributed thousands of leaflets and holding placards in their hands, shouted slogans denouncing violation of human rights by the Indian state and world imperialism.

Despite the evening rush hour, the slogans such as “Manipur se sena ko vapas lao”, “Kale kanoon radd karo”, “Nandigram,Gujarat aur 1984 ke gunhegaro ko saja do”, as well as the enthusiasm and militancy of the demonstrators attracted a large number of passers-by. They stopped to read the leaflet calling on people to oppose all attacks on minorities, the severe environmental degradation and displacement of massive numbers of people for the super profits of the big Indian and foreign monopolies, the Indo-US strategic alliance and the interference of the Indian state in the neighbouring countries, to further the interests of Indian big business and US imperialists in the region. Many expressed interest in the issues being raised by Lok Raj Sangathan and in becoming members of the organization. They challenged the attempts of the police to stop the demonstrators.

The activists of LRS militantly carried on their demonstration till late in the evening, calling on people to come forward and fight for lok raj, as the only way to guarantee human, democratic and national rights for our people.
