Ulhasnagar reverberated with “Inquilab Zindabad”!
On March 23, 2008, the 77 th anniversary of the martyrdom of Shahid Bhagat Singh was celebrated in the Punjabi Colony of Ulhasnagar in Maharashtra. The theme was ‘The dream which is still incomplete.’ The revolutionary evening was organized under the banner of the Ulhasnagar Samiti of Lok Raj Sangathan.
Apart from all the members of the local samiti of Lok Raj Sangathan, residents of the Punjabi colony and Shantinagar also participated in the programme and cultural evening. More than 300 people participated in the event.
The programme started on a vibrant note with the slogan of Inquilab Zindabad. The organizers of the event made it clear that celebrating this day does not only mean praising the heroic stand and work of Bhagat Singh and his friends but also renewing our commitment to struggle to achieve that goal for which they laid down their lives.

The youth of Punjabi colony presented cultural programmes inspired by Shahid Bhagat Singh’s thought. The youth beautifully showcased their talents through play, song and dance. They used new technology to present an audio visual based on Bhagat Singh and his militant thoughts. Their vibrant rhythm and bold words moved the audience. The Parivartan Kala Manch played a leading role in organizing all these cultural events.
The representative of the Communist Ghadar Party of India, specially invited for the occasion, hailed our proud history. If we wish to keep alive the dream of a brighter future we will have to turn the pages of history once again . The Ghadaris of 1857 gave the slogan ‘hum hai iske malik, Hindustan humara’. Bhagat Singh and his friends then gave the slogan Inquilab Zindabad and sounded the bugle to bring the people to power. To fulfill this pure dream of the martyrs and place power in the hands of the people is the duty of all Indians.
On behalf of Lok Raj Sangathan, the Mumbai Convenor talked to the people and said that the need of the time was to build samitis for Lok Raj (people’s power). These are critical instruments in bringing the people to power. He also placed the organization’s programme in front of all present. Many other young comrades also spoke at the event.
