Unite against the attacks of the bourgeoisie
Dear Sir,
I am writing to thank the CC of the CGPI for its statement entitled “Unite against state terrorism, capitalist reforms and the imperialist agenda!”, dated 10th August 2008. This is a principled statement of the party coming in the background of unrelenting bourgeois propaganda which has been spreading disinformation and terror, in order to disorient the people and the working masses of the country.
The terrorist attacks of July 2008 have occurred at a time when the people of the country have been expressing their disgust at the activities of the parties of the bourgeoisie. It comes at a time when the policies of liberalization and privatization stand exposed as being totally reactionary and anti-people. It comes at a time of intolerable inflation and galloping petroleum prices. Thus, the terrorist attacks have come to serve the purpose of taking the pressure off the bourgeoisie and its activities and the hardships being faced by the people.
There has been enormous resistance to the policies of the bourgeoisie as regards Special Economic Zones in Goa, Nandigram and elsewhere. There is resistance to the takeover of wholesale enterprise by big bourgeoisie such as Reliance, or to the Tata Motors plan at Singur to name a few examples. Despite this, the bourgeoisie is hell-bent on going ahead with more reforms, with plans to privatize sectors of the economy which so far have not been open to private players. As though to add insult to injury, the bourgeoisie has also gone ahead with the plans to finalize the Indo-US nuclear deal. India has been militarizing the economy as part of the imperialist strategy of the bourgeoisie. All these activities can go on only if the working people are subjected to further super-exploitation. In order to achieve this, the resistance of the people has to be broken.
It is necessary for the bourgeoisie to raise the bogey of external threat and internal subversion in order to achieve its aims. In addition to the craft of state terror which the Indian state has perfected, it is now perfecting the art of spreading terror and confusion. It suffices to say that the Bangalore and Ahmedabad bomb blasts will remain unsolved, indeed as have the Hyderabad blasts, the Jaipur blasts and so on.
People must remain ever vigilant to the tactics of the bourgeoisie to break their unity. The working people must not lose sight of their mission of being leaders of the Indian people in face of these challenges. Communists must firmly stay on the forefront of this multi-pronged struggle against state terror and reaction.
Sincerely,
A. Narayan
