Convention condemns Indo-US strategic alliance
Political activists from all across the country participated in an All India Convention held in New Delhi on August 26, 2008 on the theme ”Dangerous Indo-US strategic alliance under the garb of the nuclear deal”.
The Convention was organised by the Samrajyawad Virodhi Muhim—campaign against imperialism. The Lok Raj Sangathan, All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Teesra Swadhinta Sangharsh Abhiyan, Indian National League, Quami Party of India, Peoples Front, Muslim Political Council of India, Movement for Peace and Justice, Peoples Democratic Front of India, Solidarity Youth Movement, Majlise Fikro Amal, Jansangharsh Manch Delhi, Ambedkar Samaj Party and Delhi Media Centre were the constituent organizations of this campaign.
The convention was presided over by Dr.Zafrul Islam Khan. Dr S.Q.R Ilyas conducted the proceedings. Comrade Prakash Rao, spokesperson of the CGPI gave the keynote address at the Convention.

Comrade Rao brought out the different facets of the Indo-US strategic alliance in his address. He pointed out that the strategic alliance was an alliance between two imperialist powers, in which both the US and India had their own imperial aims. India’s ruling class was hoping to emerge as a world class imperialist power through this strategic alliance with the US. The US on its part, was looking at this alliance as an instrument to ensure its domination of Asia in the coming decades.
In his presentation, Comrade Rao elaborated on the geo political strategy of the alliance, the division of spheres of influence, the alliance between the armed forces of the two countries, the joint agreement to promote and impose the imperialist concept of “democracy” on all peoples and nations, as well as the strengthening of economic ties between the two countries. He pointed out that the strategic alliance included alliance of the intelligence services and specifically, close collaboration in spreading terrorism, and unleashing state terrorism and state organized communal terror, in the name of “war against terrorism”. Through the nuclear deal, the US was offering India some kind of international recognition as a nuclear weapons state, thus reflecting the global realities of today. The Indian big bourgeoisie is extremely happy at the prospect of fulfilling its imperialist agenda in collaboration with the US. However, for the workers and peasants of India, for the broad masses, this means that the plunder of our country by Indian and foreign corporates will intensify. Our country will also be set against other peoples and countries. We must resolutely expose and oppose the strategic alliance, he pointed out. He called on all the speakers to address different aspects of the strategic alliance and put forward proposals to defeat the imperialist agenda of the ruling class.
The speakers who addressed the convention elaborated on different aspects of the strategic alliance. Several speakers brought out through powerful arguments, that the Indian state, in collaboration with the US intelligence agencies and Israel, was directly involved in perpetuating terrorist attacks on people. They showed that behind each and every major terrorist attack in recent times, there has been a political agenda of the ruling class. Speakers brought out how terrorism, state terrorism, and communal and fascist violence have marked every phase of the economic reforms program of the Indian ruling class in the past 24 years.
Speakers elaborated powerfully to show that the Indian corporate houses had their own agenda behind the strategic alliance.
The Convention passed a powerful resolution condemning the strategic alliance in all its aspects.
