Demonstration of workers of unorganised sector to the parliament
Various organizations of workers in unorganized sector took out a massive rally from Mandi house to the Parliament on 21 October 2008 under the leadership of Nirman Mazdoor Workers Panchayat Sangam. They were demanding a comprehensive law in favour of workers of this sector. The rally culminated in a public meeting in front of the Parliament.
Delhi Shramik Sangathan, Tamilnadu Manual Workers Union, Chhattisgarh Gharelu Kaamgaar Union, Bhartiya Tipahiya Chalak Sangh, Delhi Kabaadi Mazdoor Sangh, Harit Recycler Association, Punjab Nirman Mazdoor Union and other organizations participated in the rally.
Geetha, Subhash Bhatnagar, S Mansoor, Ramendra, and many other speakers from various organizations addressed the rally. Subhash Bhatnagar, National Convenor of Nirman Mazdoor Panchayat Sangam said that the act proposed by the government is an insult to the workers of this sector.
Addressing the gathering, Delhi Secretary of Lok Raj Sangathan Bijju Nayak said that the government works in the interest of the big capitalists. The capitalists of our country declare that "what is in the interest of capitalists is also in the interest of workers and peasants". While the capitalists of our country are buying over large companies in Germany and England, the conditions of workers and peasants is going from bad to worse. During the election, various parties of the bourgeoisie jump into the fray to serve the interests of these capitalists. History has proven that the problems of workers and peasants cannot be solved by changing governments or parties that rule. If we want to change the conditions of workers and peasants of our country we must build Lok Raj Samitis in places we work and live, and work towards the establishment of Lok Raj, that is the rule of workers and peasants of this country. This is the only alternative.
At the end of the public meeting a memorandum signed by representatives of various organizations was submitted to the Prime Minister.
