All-India strike by bank employees
Sir,
"The call for a two-day strike by bank employees during the month of September 2008 met with a country-wide response. The statement of Communist Ghadar Party of India explained in great detail what the demands of the employees are and why they are justified. It also exposed the aims of the bourgeoisie in launching the so-called reforms in the banking sector.
Not content with the loot and plunder of the resources of the country and the wealth that has been carried out of the country, not content with the precious and hard earned fruits of labour of the masses in the first several decades of so-called independence, the bourgeoisie has now turned its rapacious appetite to the unpicked fruits. By leveraging itself to an advantageous position by its control of all state organs in the country, the bourgeoisie is carrying on to realise its class aim in every possible manner. It wants to seek the benefits of a credit regime that will extend low-interest loans under the pretext of guaranteed returns and deny loans to those who are not of strong economic muscle. By cutting down the number of kinds of banks, numbers of branches and so-called `consolidation’ of banking, they wish to emerge also as an international player in finance capital. By giving in to this vision the working masses, i.e., the antagonistic class to the bourgeoisie will embark on the path of disaster. Therefore, any conscious struggle by the working masses in the banking sector is an important event in the ongoing class struggle. The statement of the party highlighted the question of the state and its duties, and the question of the rights and duties of the working peoples.
Sincerely,
S. Nair, Kochi
