Teachers, students and workers of Jamia Millia stage peace march

On September 25, 2008, nearly ten thousand teachers, students and workers of Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi staged a peace march to protest against the harassment of Muslim community in the name of "fighting terrorism". They were carrying placards such as: "stop harassing innocent Muslims!", and "we don't have to prove our patriotism!". Students and teachers from JNU and DU as well as many human rights activists joined the march.

A day prior to this a huge rally was organized in the Ansari Auditorium of the University. Speakers at this rally expressed concern on the harassment of students belonging to the university. It was also decided to provide complete legal help to the arrested students.

This march was a bold step to assure the youth full support against any harassment by the police in the name of "fighting terrorism".
