Victory celebration in Delhi to mark the end of Monarchy in Nepal

A grand victory celebration was organized by the Delhi unit of Nepalese People’s Rights Protection Committee, India in New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar to mark the end of Monarchy in Nepal. Thousands of workers, women, youth and children of Nepalese origin from Delhi and its surrounding areas participated enthusiastically in this victory celebration.

People expressed their joy in a march that was taken out just before the meeting began. With the happiness  of victory reflected in their faces people were seen carrying placards with slogans such as ‘Down with Monarchy’ and ‘Long live Republic’.

The meeting began with tributes to the martyrs of Nepal followed by revolutionary songs sung by members  of various Nepalese cultural troupes. The songs narrated the courage and sacrifices of thousands of Nepalese people who were part of the struggle for democracy.

The meeting was chaired by Comrade Moti Gautam, Vice President of the Delhi unit of the Nepalese People’s Rights Protection Committee, India and conducted by Comrade OP Pandya. Delivering the Keynote Address Comrade Teg Bahadur, Central Adviser of the Nepalese People’s Rights Protection Committee, India, said that there is a conspiracy of the erstwhile ruling class in Nepal to usurp power while the people of Nepal have elected the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoists) with a clear majority. The people of Nepal would never allow this conspiracy to succeed.

Speaking on behalf of the Communist Ghadar Party (CGPI) of India Bijju Naik conveyed revolutionary greetings to the Nepalese people for succeeding in overthrowing the monarchy and moving towards formation of a Republic. People of Nepal have knocked at the political history of South Asia for the first time by forming a constituent assembly, he said.

In contrast, the constitution which is still in force in India was prepared by few wealthy and educated people hand-picked by the British colonialists. Workers and peasants of India are still waging a struggle to change the status quo, he observed.

CGPI has always supported the people of Nepal fighting for democratic values. The workers and peasants of India would continue to fight the imperialist forces coming in the way of Nepali people’s progress.

Bijju Naik concluded by saying, “We hope that Nepal’s workers, peasants, women and youth progress on a path that would take them towards the rule of workers and peasants, where there will be no place for exploitation of humans by other humans.”

Finally the meeting was addressed by Comrade Padam Bahadur Rana, member of Central Committee of Communist Party of Nepal (Maoists). Comrade Bahadur said that the Congress party which has been totally rejected by the Nepali people is staking its claim for president’s post which is the highest. He warned the Congress party and other parties of Nepal and asked them to respect the verdict of the Nepali people

Comrade Bahadur further added that his party is making all efforts to form  a government in Nepal. We are taking steps towards forming a government by involving all the parties. People of Nepal are ready come out on the roads and fight if Congress or any other party come in the way, he added.

Participants in the meeting included Communist Party of India (ML Liberation),  Parvatsheel Sangh, Krantikari Lok Adhikar Sangathan, Communist Party of India (New Proletarian), Communist Party of India (New Democracy) and others.

Comrade Lakshman Pant, Prof. Vijay Singh, Comrade Mrigang, Kamlesh, Sheena, Prof, Shiyomangal Siddhantkar, Comrade Radha Pant and others addressed the gathering motivating the people of Nepal.
