Importance of May day
Sir,
I was heartening to read about the celebration of the international worker's day in Delhi and Mumbai, the political and economic capitals of the country.
The report of the speech of the party representative bring out the utter depravity of the big bourgeoisie and their ruling circles, the centrality of private property and its interests in present day Indian life, the negation of the rights of working peoples in the hands of this system, and the domination of Eurocentric notions in all spheres of political thinking and the need to defeat it. It affirms that the working class is the only revolutionary class, the need for the united front of workers and the peasantry, the need to articulate a modern theory for the liberation of the Indian people. It brings out that the establishing of socialism is the only alternative to capitalism.
May Day is indeed that day on which the working class has the opportunity to remind itself of its historical mission and duty. I compliment all those who participated in the celebrations. Let us work together to transform India.
Sincerely,
S. Nair, Kochi
