US Imperialism is the biggest terrorist of all!

The release on bail of Luis Posada Carriles, a notorious international terrorist, by the US courts earlier this month, despite overwhelming evidence against him, has proved once again that US imperialists are the biggest sponsors of terrorism worldwide.

Carriles is known to be responsible for the destruction of a Cuban passenger plane in mid air several years ago, in which over 70 passengers, including Cubans and people of other nationalities lost their lives. He was freed from jail in Venezuela by the covert operatives of US imperialism, after which he carried out several acts of destruction against the people of Nicaragua and other countries of Latin America. Though his background and the terrorist acts he had carried out were known only too well, the charges brought against him after he entered the US illegally in August 2005 were deliberately restricted to mere violation of immigration laws, and no charges were brought against him in respect of the major criminal acts of terrorism. This enabled the judge to release this notorious terrorist on bail in April 2007.

The release of this known terrorist proves that the so–called opposition of the US imperialists to terrorism is a complete sham. It is in fact only a means to crush the struggles of the people opposed to US imperialism and its allies by dubbing them as terrorists. Moreover, his release is also one of the latest scandalous acts of US imperialism against the Cuban people in particular. These horrendous acts against the Cuban people carried out over the last fifty years by US imperialism include, among many others, the following:

• Invasion at the Bay of Pigs by mercenaries in which 176 people were killed and 300 injured
• Threat of nuclear annihilation of Cuba during the Missile Crisis of 1962
• Deliberate introduction of viruses, fungi and bacteria to harm the people, plantations and animal flocks of Cuba
• The economic blockade of Cuba which has made it extremely difficult for people to obtain items which are necessary for sustenance and trade even with other countries of the world
• The establishment of a notorious concentration camp on the territory illegally occupied in Guantánamo which has been condemned by people round the world and even disapproved of by many of the allies of US imperialism
• The continued funding of hundreds of subversive groups and Mafia gangs whose only reason of existence is the destruction of independence and the system of government which the Cuban people have chosen for themselves

Despite all the hardships and threats, the Cuban people have made great strides with regard to their health, material, cultural, social and spiritual wellbeing and in fact are seen as examples worthy of emulation not only by other peoples of Latin America but throughout the world. On the other hand, with acts such as the release of well known terrorists, US imperialism is getting more and more exposed in the eyes of justice and freedom–loving people all over.
