Two-Day Communist School in Mumbai
In accordance with the decision of the Central Committee of the CGPI, a two-day Communist School was organized by the Party on December 23-24, 2006 in Mumbai. At the Communist School that was organised in Delhi on November 18-19, 2006, Comrade Lal Singh had announced that the Party would organise similar schools in different cities and regions of the country by the Party organisations in those areas. This Communist School in Mumbai was organized in response to the overwhelming interest among the working class and people, especially the youth in and around Mumbai, to learn the science of Marxism-Leninism, the scientific theory to enable the proletariat to seize political power and thus usher in a socialist society free from exploitation and oppression of working people. It was aimed at strengthening the theoretical and ideological training of revolutionary activists.
The focus of study and discussion during the two days was on the scientific theory of proletarian revolutions and proletarian political power – the theory that will enable the working class to become the ruling class. There were four sessions organized over two days of the School, namely: (i) the Paris Commune; (ii) the Great October Revolution, socialist construction and the fall of the Soviet Union; (iii) the Chinese Revolution and the capitalist course of present day China; (iv) Revolution and counter-revolution in Albania. Each session started with a well-prepared presentation on the topic followed by vigorous discussions amongst the participants.
Comrade Lal Singh inaugurated the event by welcoming all the participants. He pointed out that in our party the basic organization is the school of communism, where comrades are receiving communist education all the time. We are organising these communist schools to seriously study the experience of all revolutions where communists have provided leadership, beginning with the experience of the Paris Commune. We must learn from all revolutions so that we can successfully organize the Indian revolution.
Comrade Lal Singh pointed out that Indian communists are divided into so many parties and groups and this is the main road block to revolution. Unless there is a strong united communist party to make the working class conscious of its historic mission, to lead the Indian proletariat through the ups and downs of the movement, it will not be possible for the working people to smash the bourgeois state and to establish and strengthen the dictatorship of the proletariat in India. Our party is seriously preparing workers and peasants for the revolution, said Comrade Lal Singh.
Further on, Comrade Lal Singh said, the imperialists, in particular US imperialists want to divide the world into whether one is for or against the “war on terrorism”. This is the fascist logic of the imperialists. Why are imperialists against the peoples of Muslim faith? It is because the peoples of Muslim faith whether in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran or elsewhere in the world are heroically fighting against the imperialists and they refuse to surrender to the dictates of the imperialists. We communists do not accept these fictitious divisions of the world. The communist know very well that the real division in the world is between two camps, between the one led by the imperialists and the exploiters, and the other, led by the proletariat consisting of the working and oppressed people of the world, fighting to assert itself. All kinds of opportunists and revisionists have tried to come up at different times with various spurious theories suggesting other ways of dividing the world but it is to the credit of the Marxist Leninists that all of them have been exposed in due course as sinister designs in the service of the bourgeoisie.
Comrade Lal Singh, together with the faculty of that class, led the discussions in each session. There were numerous interventions during the discussion, including both requests for clarifications on the presentations as well as elaboration on some of the points. The discussion was extremely lively and reflected the high level of seriousness and consciousness amongst the participants. In their interventions, many comrades thanked the Central Committee for organizing the school and declared that such schools should be regularly held and the contents should be taken to more and more people. The enthusiasm of the young comrades was such that even after the formal sessions ended on the first day, they continued discussing the tasks ahead of the Indian communists. Though their discussions went on practically throughout the night, the next day they were there, fresh faced and enthusiastic and eager to learn more.
The meeting began and ended with several revolutionary songs rendered by our young comrades. All the participants standing with their clenched fists held high, sang the Internationale, the song written by one of the brave communards of the Paris commune, the song which became the song of the international working class.
The Communist School organised in Mumbai has contributed to raising the theoretical level of the comrades in the region. Refreshed from what they assimilated at the School, all the participants in the School declared their resolve to further strengthen the party organisations, and provide leadership to the working class and people in the struggle against the capitalist offensive, to establish the rule of workers and peasants on Indian soil.
