26th anniversary of the founding of the CGPI celebrated in Toronto, Canada

Members and sympathisers of the Communist Ghadar Party of India resident in Canada participated enthusiastically in a public meeting organised in Toronto by the Ghadar Heritage Organization to celebrate the 26th anniversary of the founding of the Party on December 25, 2006.

Greeting the members and well wishers on this joyous occassion, Comrade Guru elaborated the analysis of the Party on the current situation in India and internationally, its line of march, and the party's plan of action in the situation.

He pointed out that US imperialism is pursuing an imperialist, war mongering course which constitutes a grave threat to the sovereignty of peoples and nations, and to peace and security of the peoples. Not only are the people of Afghanistan and Iraq facing a genocidal campaign unleashed by the US and its allies, Cuba, North Korea and Iran are facing blockade and are being threatened everyday. The peoples of the Muslim faith are being branded as "terrorists" by the biggest terrorist in the world, US imperialism. The working class and peoples of the world are coming out on the streets opposing globalisation, liberalisation and privatisation. They are loudly proclaiming their complete opposition to imperialism, fascism and war.

In these conditions, the Communist Ghadar Party of India has been boldly leading the working class and people of India in waging a united struggle against imperialism, fascism and war, and against the Indian government's attempts to join the US in a strategic partnership against the peoples of India and the world. The Communist Ghadar Party of India has defended the people of the Muslim faith, as well as the peoples of Kashmir, Manipur, Nagaland and other states from state terrorism. It has worked to unite the people in defence of their human, national and democratic rights. The Party has put forth a program of establishing workers and peasants rule in India and is working singlemindedly to achieve this aim.

The Indian ruling class and the imperialists are pushing India as an example of how liberalisation and privatisation "works", pointing out to the 10% growth rate. What they want to hide is that terrible tragedies are being inflicted on people. Lakhs of workers have lost their jobs, those with work are being superexploited. Capitalism has wreaked disaster on the peasantry, with peasants in even Punjab and Haryana driven to bankruptcy and suicide. On the one hand, agriculture is becoming unviable for a majority of peasants, on the other hand the state is creating an army of landless peasants and workless agricultural labourers, through forcible expropriation of land of peasants in the name of creating Special Economic Zones. Workers and peasants and broad masses of people are boldly resisting these attacks and the Party is working to unify all the fighting forces in these conditions to overthrow capitalism and establish the rule of workers and peasants in India.

The Party anniversary celebration was marked by enthusiastic participation in the discussion, with all the comrades and sympathisers expressing their profound faith in the work of the Party and the cause of the Indian revolution. People's Voice hails the work of the comrades in Toronto in Canada in keeping the flag of Ghadar and communism flying high and wishes them all success in developing the work in the coming year.
