Condemn the terrorist massacre of people in Hyderabad!

With deep anger, People's Voice condemns the terrorist blasts organised on August 25, 2007 in Hyderabad in which over 40 people have lost their lives and over a hundred people suffered grievous injuries. People's Voice offers its heartfelt condolences to those who have lost their near and dear ones; and to all those who have suffered injuries in these terrorist attacks.

These terrorist attacks in Hyderabad come just three months after the blasts in Mecca Masjid and the subsequent police firing and killing of protestors. Why are these blasts being organized? Who are the perpetrators of these blasts and why are they never caught and punished?

If a careful look is made into the series of blasts that have taken place in different parts of the country, whether the blasts in market places in Delhi, or the Samjhauta Express, or the blasts in suburban trains in Mumbai on 7 November 2005, or the blasts in Malegaon, or in Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad, till today none of the cases has been satisfactorily solved and the truth laid bare before the public. What has happened instead is according to a pattern which has the signature of government intelligence agencies. First, immediately after these attacks, this or that organization allegedly based in Bangladesh or Pakistan are charged with the attack, even though such organizations have not claimed responsibility. Later on, various people, of the Muslim faith are rounded up, arrested and tortured, and charged with these attacks. At other times, the so called ring leaders or master minds of the blasts are declared shot dead in “encounters”. At the end of the day, the perpetrators of the terrorist attacks are never brought to book, even while various innocent people are left to rot in the dungeons of the state.

The aim of these terrorist attacks is to create an atmosphere of terror and uncertainty amongst Muslims. It is to create an atmosphere where communal and sectarian violence amongst people can be unleashed at a moment’s notice. It is to justify the strengthening of the repressive apparatus of the state, and to divide and paralyse the people.

In these moments of great tragedy, People's Voice calls upon the people to remain calm and not fall prey to the aims of those who have organised these terrible massacres.
