Coherent Stand Against State Terrorism

The Editor,

I am writing in response to the three statements of the CC of the CGPI posted on the party web-site, entitled (1) Gujarat fake "encounters" case: Cold-blooded murder by state forces, (2) Women in Assam ask: Where are our missing relations, and (3) Kashmir Round Table Conference: A refusal to address key demands of the Kashmiri people, which have been posted almost simultaneously. Besides expressing my gratitude through this letter to the CC for its great sincerity and principled stand on each of the issues, I am writing to point out to the readers of People's Voice the remarkable coherence of the party’s stand on each of these burning issues, and in the unified approach that the party has to these matters. The stands reflect the advanced theory and practice of the party which is one of the great weapons in its armoury in spearheading class struggle. While offering the party congratulations, I also extend my most profound condolences to all the victims and their relatives of each of the atrocities on which the party has taken such a principled stand. I also wish to point out that if proper lessons are not drawn, even greater tragedies await the working people of India and indeed all the nations that constitute it.

At the heart of the approach of the party is the recognition that the Indian state, its organs, legislative bodies, judiciary, the armed forces and various security apparatus, etc., are nothing but a continuation of the colonial state established in 1858 by the Proclamation of Queen Victoria, and the events of 1947 represent the passing of the supreme power into the hands of the ruling Indian elites. This along with the disastrous division of India along religious lines into two, and subsequently three political units which remain antagonistic lay the grounds to the unmitigated disaster that the people of the region have been facing for nearly 60 years now. Of particular concern is the role of security forces and the armed forces and the impunity with which they carry on their activities in large parts of the country. Far from being an aberration, their activities serve to keep the peoples of India a servile lot, and enable the big business houses, large agriculturalists and all those in the capitalist class to harness the natural wealth, minerals, water, power resources and the labour of the millions of its toilers towards their enrichment at an ever increasing pace.

The party has pointed out on several occasions that the big bourgeoisie has now charted a course of emerging as a big power on the world scale, which will be accompanied by the crushing of human rights of all the peoples of India and that of the nations that constitute it, for without this it would not be possible for them to amass the resources and backing of its own disparate ranks to meet this aim. Therefore, all concerned individuals in the country, all political forces interested in the emancipation of the people of India must engage themselves with these questions of the polity. They must work towards a comprehensive theory of human rights and that of the rights of nations to meet the needs of the peoples and nations of India, which is modern and timely, and which will be a useful tool in advancing towards the goal of emancipation. It is my belief that the work of the party is an important milestone in this regard.

Sincerely,
A. Narayan, Bangalore
